Fishtail Braids: Super Cool and Easy to Do!

Fishtail braids look fancy and complicated, but they’re actually pretty easy to learn! Here’s how to do them yourself:

Step 1: Tangle Tamers

First, brush out your hair to get rid of any knots. You can also use a little hair lotion or cream to make it smoother and easier to braid.

Step 2: The Big Split

Divide your hair into two equal sections at the back of your head, like splitting a sandwich in half! Hold one section in each hand.

Step 3: Criss-Cross Magic

Take a small piece of hair from the outside of the right section and cross it over to the LEFT section. Then, do the same thing on the other side – grab a small piece from the outside of the LEFT section and cross it over to the RIGHT section.

Step 4: Keep Crossing

Keep doing this criss-cross move with small pieces of hair, taking them from the outside of each section and adding them to the other side. Make sure you pull the pieces tight so your braid looks neat.

Step 5: Hold it Tight!

Once you’ve braided all the way down to your hair ends, tie it off with a clear hair elastic.

Step 6: Loosen Up (Optional)

For a more relaxed style, you can gently pull on the sides of the braid to loosen it up a bit. This will make it look softer and fluffier.

Step 7: Finishing Touches

If you want your braid to stay put all day, you can spray a little bit of hairspray on it, or use some hair wax for extra hold and shine.

Step 8: Double Trouble (Optional)

Want two braids? Do the whole fishtail thing again on the other side of your head for a perfectly symmetrical look. Or, you can just have one braid for a cool and casual style.

The more you practice, the easier fishtail braids will become. Soon you’ll be a braiding pro, creating awesome hairstyles in no time!
